An Indian Summer Day in December

Oh boy, a sunny mild December day---time to get out and play some ball!

OK Mom, I'm ready! Mom......?

How about both Lady and I with our balls? Bet you can't resist that one!
Mom was so nice to us, she played ball with us 3 times before lunch time. Thanks Mom!

SNOW!!

Oh boy! I remember this stuff---it's SNOW!

Yup, tastes just like I remember it. Nice and cold too. And plenty enough to play in!

And this year I have Lady to share it with. But of course since I'm bigger, I get the snowballs that dad throws first. Move over please, Miss Lady.

Yahoooo, this is really fun.

Whatcha want to do next Lady? How about a game of chase?

Yessir, we are lovin' this!
Hope we have lots of this beautiful snow this year.

Enjoying Fall

Summer's gone, and Wolf has been enjoying the beautiful Fall weather.

Yesterday he got to chase a woodchuck up a tree (yes, they can climb trees---especially with a 110 lb. dog after them!)

It's a good thing :)

ISSDC NE Fall Shiloh Specialty

Friday we all went up to New York to go to our club's NE Specialty Show----it was so much fun! They had it in a big State Park.

Mom took me in the ring, the judge was very nice and gave me a blue ribbon and a rosette to take home.

Lady watched while I did my best to make mom proud.

Mom insisted on taking this picture of my ribbons and rosettes ---I had nothing to do with this--as you can see I was fast asleep.

There were lots of fun things to do besides just Conformation---Rally-O, Shiloh games, Temperament Tests, a howling contest, and oh yeah---I earned my Therapy Dog International (TDI)! This resulted in both mom & dad wearing huge smiles the rest of the trip. And getting to sleep on the motel bed was a real treat!

Little sister Lady also went in for the 3-6 month puppy class. She came away with 2 second place ribbons---not bad for a newbie.

Here she is resting after her wins.
I really enjoyed seeing all my Shiloh buddies and meeting new ones. Lady and I slept all the way back home, zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Looking forward to the next event----Herding Trials this weekend---Can't wait to cheer all my fellow Shiloh friends on!

This is Okay!

I love playing on my back porch, chewing my bone and watching mom while she reads or enjoys the day.

Mom plays with me of course, but she has other things to do besides give me attention 24/7. But now....now that Lady is here, I have someone to play with all the time!

Of course she does bite me, take my bone away and pester me when I don't feel like playing....

.....but it IS fun to be chased, admired and adored by another Shiloh.

Mom says Lady looks up to me and wants to follow in my footsteps.

And, you gotta admit, she is pretty cute, eh?

Wolf gets a little "sister"

Wolf would like to introduce his new "sister"----My Lady Lemon of Crossroad (Lady). She'll be 5 months old in a few days, and she is a silver and cream sable Shiloh Shepherd. Also, she is a plush coat, while Wolf is a smooth coat. She is out of the Kisla/Odin 09 litter. Lady and Wolf seemed to hit it off right away, they started playing within seconds of meeting one another.

At first Wolf probably thought that she would be going back where she came from, but now he realizes she's here to stay.

Even though she takes his bones, his toys, his car seat and even his bed, he has accepted her with much patience and lots of play time!

They like doing things together, and Wolf enjoys showing Lady how to be a good Shiloh citizen.

It looks like they will be close friends :)
This has been a very exciting time for all of us!

Even more fun stuff coming!

I just found out that more fun is in store for us with our Shiloh friends.....

...... things like 2 picnics (where we get to run free together and play and chase one another to our hearts content, and have games and eat lots of goodies)

........and the Herding Trial (look out you silly woolies!)

.... and even a big dog show in New York, where we get to be in a motel again and watch all the Shilohs strut their stuff!
Wow, I'll have a lot to report on in the next couple months. Stay tuned :)

Buzzards!

Something new came into my yard the other day----buzzards!

There were 3 of them, and boy were they big! Mom sent me out after them and it was so much fun. They wait a long time before they fly off, so I got a real good look at them.

I think I'll wait around and see if mom needs me to chase any more of them away.

Front Porch Sittin'

I love sitting on our front porch. There always seems to be a cool breeze blowing, and I can watch folks going by on their bikes or walking their dogs.

Mom sits out there with me and has her coffee in the morning. Later on she reads while I chew on my bone. She gave me my own rug to lie on. It's one of my most favorite places to be.

Dog Days of August event

Up and at 'em! Time to head out everyone.

We're going to the "Dog Days of August" event today.

What should we do first?

Oh boy, here's my good friends Mr. Bob and Bella. She's going to try the Rally-O course.

Hey, it's Argus----I remember you. Let's sniff to make sure.

We had a Shiloh booth at the event, so folks could find out about us Shilohs. I met this boy there, he was nice and wanted to hang out with us.

I'm waiting for my turn at agility. There was a long line because this was a very popular thing.

They also had herding, disc dog, Rally-O, testings, seminars, and we got to watch greyhounds chase "lures" in a big field. They had all kinds of dog games and contests too. Plus, they had different dog breed booths with lots of information and stuff for sale. Oh yeah, they had lots of food too!

The "dog walk". I remember this from my agility classes. Piece of cake.

"Weave poles", a little harder because I'm a big dog, but mom helped me out.

"Jumps", I like these----woooo-hoooo!

A kind lady gave me a nice bucket of cold water when I was done.

They had so many activities that I didn't get to see them all! And every kind of dog you could imagine came to this event. It was so much fun, and mom said I was a very, very good boy!

more fun coming soon at Keepstone.....

Well, I took my 4th herding lesson at Keepstone Farms and I had a lot of fun. I'm starting to really get the hang of it, I think.

I think the sheep are pretty silly, but I do enjoy moving them around.

Next Saturday there is going to be a huge event at Keepstone called "Dog Days in August". There will be all kinds of dogs there, and a lot of opportunities to watch or participate in doggy activities like: herding, frisbee, Rally-O, agility, tracking, seminars, games, demonstrations and contests. Shilohs will have a booth there also, to educate folks about our breed. Oh boy!

Wolf maturing

Mom says that when I was younger I was a real handful (whatever that means).

All I know is, now she is always telling me what a good boy I am, and that makes me so happy!

I guess that's all part of growing up....finding out that it's more fun to please the ones you love than to just do whatever you want. Of course, both my grandma's were always available to help and guide my mom in training me.

Pretty neat---everyone's happier, including me.

A few of my favorite things......and not so favorite

The summer is more than half over already. Lazing around, I was thinking of some of my favorite things.....

....such as being with my humans, a good game of "chuck-it", freeze-dried duck (Yum!), playing with my girlfriend (Yellow Lab) Bailey, going to Shiloh events and shows, playing with the woolies, keeping our 6 acres deer and woodchuck free, little tastes of dad's whipped cream, laying on the A/C vent, going for car rides, helping mom "tractor", chewing my Nylabone on the porch while mom sips her coffee........

Then I was thinking of my not so favorite things like going to the vet, the crate (still don't like it at all!), really bad thunderstorms.

Seems the good things far outweigh the bad.

Maybe that's why I always have a smile on my face.

Woolie Lesson #3

Good morning! I'm up bright and early so I can go play with the woolies today. This will be my third herding lesson and I can hardly wait!

C'mon guys----we're burning daylight.

We didn't get any photos of me herding, but this is Tuck, he's a smooth coat like me. He's famous for his herding, and he has a lot of titles. Look how big that one woolie is!

Here I am resting with my good friend Bella Breeze, while we wait for our turn. She's a plush (long) coat. Isn't she pretty?

I had to miss some lessons this year, so when it was my turn I got a little rambuctious with the sheep. I forgot that I had a job to do, and that I wasn't allowed to just chase the sheep or nip at them. My instructor was very patient, but I did need to get a few "reminders" on how to properly herd. I did finally settle down.
After my lesson I was so hot and tired that I lay down in the big water trough----boy did that feel good!
Can't wait for the next lesson.
